Sandra R. Leiblum PhD was professor of Psychiatry and Obstetrics/Gynecology from UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and was in private practice in Bridgewater, New Jersey, USA.
Dr. Leiblum completed her PhD degree at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Illinois (USA) and a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Colorado Medical Center.
Dr. Leiblum was an internationally known expert in sex therapy, active in research, education and consultation in the field of sexuality.
She published over 135 articles and edited or authored 11 books. Her last book was the 4th edition of Principles and Practice of Sex Therapy (Guilford, 2007).
With Judith Sachs, she wrote a popular book on female sexuality entitled Getting the Sex You Want: A woman’s guide to becoming proud, passionate and pleased in bed (Crowne, 2002).
Dr. Leiblum was nationally known for her leadership activities in the field of human sexuality. She was the first president of the International Society for the Study of Womens’ Sexual Health (ISSWSH) and president of the Society of Sex Therapy and Research.
She was the recipient of the Masters & Johnson Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for Sex Therapy and Research and the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists Award for accomplishments over an entire career in addition to her many awards as a master educator at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
